We were helping a client recently on the technical side of our SEO strategy. The client was a law firm that has spent a lot of time securing positive results. To help add to their online presence and obtain the almighty five-star rating under their search results, we turned to some Schema markup language. For our peace of mind, we wanted to double check our work but couldn’t find a good ‘go-to’ resource. So, we wanted to create this blog to help you.

Here are the steps we took to get this working for our client. First, and most importantly, make sure the review you want to feature is legitimately from a current client and not made up. If Google emailed you for proof, could you supply a client email, survey result, etc.?

After that, we’ll need to do a little copying/pasting. Check out the complete review schema here. You would need to gather and replace the following fields: name, title, and full review.

Now, you just need to implement this on your website. After you replace those fields with your own reviews, simply paste this code near the bottom of any given inner webpage. (Google doesn’t seem to love these review snippets for a homepage search results.)

After implementation, you can check out your work by heading over to Google’s Structured Data Testing Tool and insert your URL.

And now we wait. With our client’s site, we usually see the review stars and snippet show up in 3-4 days.

If you’d like a review of your current legal website’s performance, just let us know and we’d be glad to take a look.
